Dear Students, Parents and Carers
Firstly, I would also like to thank you for your patience during what has been a very difficult and turbulent time during the industrial action in our school.
I am writing again to give you advanced notice about proposed strike action next Tuesday 21 May, Wednesday 22 May and Thursday 23 May by teachers who are members of the National Education Union (NEU).
Negotiations are ongoing and we hope the dispute can be resolved. However, if this is not possible, the impact for Hautlieu will be as follows for Tuesday 21 May, Wednesday 22 May and Thursday 23 May:
- The school will be closed for Year 10 and Year 12 IB students. Year 11, Year 12 AS and Year 13 students are now on study leave and the school will be open for their exams and for study purposes.
While we want to avoid any impact on learning, our highest priority is your safety and wellbeing and we have to ensure that we have sufficient qualified staff on site.
I know that all Year groups have exams coming up, be it mocks or the real thing. Please can I ask that you continue to complete private study and revision over the course of these days in preparation for your examinations.
As you would expect, I continue to work closely with the Department for Children, Young People, Education and Skills (CYPES) to manage this situation. The CYPES Department and Government of Jersey is doing all it can, including using Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service, to resolve this matter.
Please also be assured that the States Employment Board is working hard with the teaching unions taking action to resolve the underlying dispute.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
