Student Participation

Y12 Skills Jersey competition: you have the opportunity, in your mentor group, to design your own campaigns or eco projects to tackle an important environmental issue, i.e. saving the pollinators.

Starting January 2020, IB personal projects for CAS will be linked with the global goals (see video below). Students will campaign or provide their service to a cause of their choice.

29/01/20 The Y12 committee have begun meeting to shape their year group’s charity day, supporting a charity of their choice. If you’d like to be more involved, speak with your mentor or AHoY.

Public speaking competition to celebrate equality and diversity for Y12/13 on ‘What does liberation mean to you?’ Apply by 04/02/20 to be in with a chance of winning a £200 prize!

03/02/20- Mr McSherry launches the next in his series of debates, on legalisation of cannabis.

Jersey Youth Service offers a 5 week lunchtime well-being course to Hautlieu students. If this would be of benefit to you, make your mentor aware. Start date tbc.

Mourant Psychology essay competition launches 01/06/20. Students at Hautlieu, De la Salle, Victoria College, JCG, and Beaulieu enter their essays on mental health, judged by prominent Psychologists in the Prison services and Educational Psychology, as well as a Senior Adviser from the Education Department.

Hautlieu students at the 2019 awards for the Mourant essay competition. Students were awarded £200 + £350 bursary, to fund university visits, for 1st prize, £150 for second prize, and £100 for 3rd prize.
