Croatia Trip 2024 – Day 11

Today was our last day of this trip, and whilst we have had a wonderful time, we are all glad to be heading home.

Today we visited a small town called Trogir, which was filled with small alleyways and quaint shops. I think that I was able to enjoy the town more today because I was aware of it being our last opportunity to make the most of the trip.

Additionally, today is my birthday, and having everyone to celebrate with me was so lovely. We went out for dinner last night; we had cake, and ‘Happy Birthday’ was sung. Furthermore, we celebrated everyone’s achievements on this trip by handing out awards both inspired by the IB learner profile and made-up by peers.

I loved being able to acknowledge and reflect on the tasks we have overcome, both as a group and as individuals, particularly because we all struggled with different things, and so being able to celebrate each other for overcoming personal goals was a great way of appreciating everyone.

On the way back home, it was a little bit more stressful than the way there. Our plane from Croatia to Heathrow was delayed so our change-over to Jersey was very rushed. We all made it home (can’t say the same for our baggage, though) and were delighted to see those who came for us at the airport. Despite the calamity at the airport, we were all able to maintain calmness and make it through safely, which I think is a big achievement considering how exhausted we were at the time!

I wanted to thank everyone involved in organising the surprises for my birthday, such as the cake and the card signed by all my peers. It has really reminded me how much I am valued in our class, and how close we are as a small community.

Additionally, I wanted to thank everyone involved in the trip in general. I am sure there will be more thanks given once we are back in school, but I wanted to briefly mention how much we appreciate all your hard work!

Kind regards, Adam
