Physics is a way in which we observe the universe around us. It is constantly changing by the questions we pose and machines we build. Einstein declares that we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Physics is not just a subject, it is a way of thinking that invokes creativity, imagination, and questioning well established theoretical beliefs. Students will learn to articulate their thoughts with academic rigour and passion. Studying Physics at GCSE and A level or IB will enable you to learn more about yourself as a learner, and how we can apply your knowledge to solve the questions of the future.
Students will spend two years exploring the fundamental models that allow us to predict events around planetary bodies or small quantum structures. Your journey will then be given the opportunity to focus your study. The department support the transition of medical students, deep space and engineering enthusiasts.
In the past we have organised a range of exciting curricular opportunities such as regularly partaking in regional engineering and robotic competitions as well as sixth form trips to the UK where we visit various physics based centres to allow students to explore opportunities in the near future.
Our department proudly supports applications through Oxbridge Physics and UCAT Medical exams each year. Covering the necessary material and opportunities to ensure a successful interview. Most of our students have gone on to study in the fields of engineering, medicine. biomedical engineering, physics and or maths.
Previous students have thoroughly enjoyed the demands of the course and we have a very successful exam pass rate and retention. If you are willing to work hard and proactively question your understanding, then physics will be a very enjoyable path that will lead to academic enjoyment and success.
