Dr Michael McKinlay Named Teacher of the Year at the Pride of Jersey Awards

We are proud to share that Dr Michael McKinlay, Head of Performance Technology at Hautlieu School, was posthumously named Teacher of the Year at the Pride of Jersey Awards 2025.

Throughout his 25 years at Hautlieu, Mike inspired countless students with his creativity, warmth, and passion for teaching. He was known for encouraging every student to find their voice, whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in the classroom, and his influence continues to be felt across the school today.

Even during periods of medical leave, his dedication never faltered. He remained deeply committed to his students’ success, continuing to mark work, offer feedback, and provide support from home.

This award is a fitting tribute to the exceptional contribution Mike made to Hautlieu and to education in Jersey. His legacy lives on through the creativity, curiosity, and confidence he inspired in generations of students.

Next summer, we will be celebrating Mike’s legacy with a special Hautlieu Summer Concert – Greatest Hits, marking the 15th anniversary of the event he began in 2011. We would love to hear from former students who would like to be involved in this celebration of his life and work. Please click below to find out more and get in contact.
